Abstract by Virginie Clément – Consequences of a simplified milk recording method on estimation of lactation yields and genetic evaluations for dairy traits in goats. Clément, Carillier, Piacère, Robert-Granié, Larroque
In French goat breeding, milk recording relies on 3 official recording methods for dairy traits: A, AT and AZ as defined by ICAR rules. To avoid large interval between records, which can discard the lactation, on average technicians performs 7 visits per herd in a year. The increase of herd size (on average 200 goats per herd with milk recording, +34 % in 10 years) and of recording costs lead milk recording organisations to try to simplify protocols.
